A wee bit of our history: The Lawrence St. Patrick's Day Parade began in 1988 when group of friends of Irish heritage sat in a local pub enjoying a frothy pint. Irish Channel Parade: Starts with a Catholic Mass at St. Mary's Church, followed by a parade down Magazine Street, led by the Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club. Wearin' of the Green Parade: A major event in Baton Rouge includes a parade, live bands, and the 5K Shamrock Run, starting from City Park Golf Course. The official parade route will go West on Douglas from McLean Blvd to Walnut St, then north on Walnut St to Pacific St. The following streets will be CLOSED during staging and the parade: Douglas from Waco to Seneca; McLean from Maple/Waterman to 1st/2nd Street We also encourage you to dress in your favorite St. Patrick's Day garb to get ready for our biggest event of the year. The 38th annual parade will start at 1 p.m. Monday, March 17 at South Park and head north from 11th and Massachusetts streets.
